A smarter energy choice for

your property

A well-designed solar system doesn’t just lower your monthly bill — it protects your household from disruption and adds long-term value to your property.

Solar systems in South Africa offer one of the best payback periods in South Africa due to high sunshine hours and rising tariffs.

Municipal Grid
Factor
Solar + Battery
Rising tariffs

NMB rates jumped 10.95% in July 2026 — the steepest hike in eight years, with annual increases guaranteed by Nersa.

Cost
Fixed rate

Lock in your cost per kWh today. Municipality tariff increases can’t touch your solar-generated units.

Unpredictable outages

Ageing NMB infrastructure means unplanned cable faults and cuts — no warning, no timeline, no recourse.

Reliability
Always on

Battery backup switches in automatically when the grid drops. Lights stay on, fridges keep running, Wi-Fi holds.

Coal-heavy supply

Over 80% of Eskom’s generation is still coal-fired. Every unit you draw from the grid carries a carbon cost.

Impact
Clean generation

Zero emissions at point of use. Port Elizabeth averages 2,500+ sunshine hours a year — among the best solar resources in the world.

Simple Steps

From first assessment to ongoing support, we manage every stage with care so you can invest in clean energy with confidence.

Find your

solar system

Every property has different energy needs. Here’s what’s available — and what each one is built for.

Grid-Tied Solar
No battery

Panels feed power directly into your home and export surplus to the municipality. No battery storage — when the grid goes down, so do you.

  • Lowest upfront cost
  • Reduces your monthly bill significantly
  • Eligible for net-metering
  • No backup during outages

Best for: Homes wanting bill reduction only

Hybrid Solar + Battery
Most popular

Panels power your home during the day, excess charges a battery, and the battery keeps you running when the grid cuts out.

  • Full backup during NMB outages
  • Maximise self-consumption
  • Seamless switchover — no interruption
  • Expandable as needs grow

Best for: Bill savings AND outage protection

Off-Grid Solar
Fully independent

Completely disconnected from the municipal grid. Panels charge a large battery bank that powers your home 24/7 — no Eskom, no NMB, no bill.

  • Zero municipality dependence
  • Ideal for farms or rural properties
  • No connection or service fees
  • Higher upfront investment required

Best for: Remote properties and full independence

Common

questions

Answers to what homeowners and businesses ask us most.

A residential grid-tied system typically starts from R60,000–R90,000 for a 5kW installation. Hybrid systems with battery backup range from R120,000–R220,000 depending on battery capacity. Every property is different — we provide a no-obligation quote after assessing your actual consumption and roof suitability.

A typical residential installation takes one to two days once equipment is on-site. From signed quote to commissioning, allow two to four weeks — this includes procurement lead times and municipality notification where required. But we always try our best get it completed as soon as possible without compromising on quality.

Only hybrid and off-grid systems with battery storage will keep you powered during an outage. A grid-tied system shuts down automatically when the grid fails — this is a safety requirement. If backup power matters to you, a hybrid system is what we recommend for most homes.

Solar panels still generate electricity on overcast days — typically at 10–25% of peak output. A hybrid system draws from the battery bank when generation is low, and falls back to the grid as a last resort. Gqeberha averages over 2,500 sunshine hours per year, so extended low-generation periods are uncommon.

Most residential systems in NMB achieve payback in five to eight years, depending on system size, your current tariff and consumption. With the 10.95% NMB tariff increase effective July 2026 — and annual increases projected — the payback period is shortening. A well-sized system delivers 20–25 years of savings beyond the payback point.
